Sashi learned Chikankari in Lucknow after her marriage. She moved to the city from outside it, saw the women in her neighbourhood working at the frame, and took up the craft there.
Sashi is not originally from Lucknow; she learned Chikankari only after her marriage, when she moved to the city and saw other women in her neighbourhood practicing the craft. She began stitching to feel more settled in her new home and gradually found confidence in the work. Today she contributes regular pieces, balancing her embroidery with household responsibilities and the rhythm of her new life.
