Suman Kumari started working as a teenager after her father passed away, so she could support her mother and younger brother through Chikankari. Even after her marriage, she chose not to leave the craft, continuing to stitch from her new home. Every piece she completes carries both her responsibility towards her family and her long, unbroken relationship with this work.
