A haldi morning is dressed in yellow, and Pitambar, the yellow cloth Krishna wears, answers with a mustard mulmul kurta, white garara and tissue organza dupatta. The maker hand embroidered the kurta in Lucknow, white thread, keel kangan, a ring around each pointed centre, phanda knots, mukaish badla metal alongside. The mulmul weighs 70–75 GSM, the dupatta 250 x 100 cm, the garara elastic at the waist.

The stitches
- Keel KanganKeel sets the pointed flower centre. Kangan rings it like a bangle around the motif.

How to wear it
- The garara gathers on an elastic waist and falls in three tiers, so it pulls on with no waist to fit and the kurta is the piece to size.
- At 250 x 100 cm the tissue organza dupatta goes over the head for the ceremony itself, its lace edge and corner tassels hanging on both sides.
- The kurta ends above the knee and is slit at the sides, so the garara's tiers carry most of the outfit's length and stay in view as you walk.
