On orders above ₹2,000
On orders above ₹5,000
Zewar means jewellery, and the necklace on this burgundy red rayon kurta is beige thread, crescents and leaves hung from the neckline. The maker hand embroidered the set in Lucknow with four stitches, upari bakhiya filling the leaves, phanda knots ringing each crescent, ghas patti along the cuffs and pechni cording the pant hems. Both pieces are 100% rayon, the pant 36 inches long, the bust 37.5 to 45.5 inches.

The stitches
- Bakhiya (shadow work)Close herringbone that fills the motif.
- Phanda (knot)Tight millet-seed knots placed one by one to build jasmine buds and flower centres.
- Pechni (twisted wrap)Tepchi wrapped over with thread into a raised, spiralled cord.
- Ghas Patti (grass leaf)Blades of grass worked in mirrored V-strokes, leaf-work that fans across hems and vines.
How to wear it
- The yoke sits where a necklace would, so the neck stays bare and your own earrings and bangles finish it.
- The pant pocket takes a whole hand, and with 2 pockets in each piece neither a Diwali puja nor a long day at the office needs a bag.
- Flat juttis suit the pant's 36 inch length, which ends in a worked beige hem below the kurta.

Each piece is embroidered and finished by hand, so a measurement may vary by up to 1 inch. That variation is the signature of handwork, not a defect. The first table measures the kurta and the second the pants, which sit on an elastic waist.
