Mehrab White Mulmul Yoke Top
Keel narrows to a point, bakhiya shades a whole motif from the reverse, and phanda swells into a knot. Three stitches, one colour: Reeta hand embroidered every one of them in Lucknow, the same white running through thread and cloth, on mulmul that weighs 70–75 GSM and is 100% cotton. Mehrab names the arched niche of Awadhi building.

The stitches
- Bakhiya (shadow work)Herringbone worked on the reverse of sheer cloth, so the motif glows through as a soft shadow, the signature of true Chikankari.
- Keel KanganKeel sets the pointed flower centre. Kangan rings it like a bangle around the motif.
- Phanda (knot)Tight millet-seed knots placed one by one to build jasmine buds and flower centres.
How to wear it
- Nothing bunches at the arm here, so a fitted jacket or a waistcoat closes flat over this top, which is what takes it into an office.
- Gold and silver both sit well against a white ground, so the top leaves the choice of metal to the rest of the outfit.
