Mulmul lets light through instead of stopping it, so this yellow deepens where the flare folds double and pales where one layer hangs alone. The maker hand embroidered the beige in Lucknow, bakhiya lying on the reverse as shadow, ghas patti for the leaves, phanda at the flower centres. Kaner is the yellow oleander, the kurta calf length, 70–75 GSM, 36 kali panels, buttoned down the front.

The stitches
- Bakhiya (shadow work)Herringbone worked on the reverse of sheer cloth, so the motif glows through as a soft shadow, the signature of true Chikankari.
- Phanda (knot)Tight millet-seed knots placed one by one to build jasmine buds and flower centres.
- Ghas Patti (grass leaf)Blades of grass worked in mirrored V-strokes, leaf-work that fans across hems and vines.
How to wear it
- Every button undone, the front falls open and the kurta goes over a white kurti as a long layer, and done up it is closed to the hem.
- Embroidered sprigs sit at the hem of the kali panels, so a plain pant below leaves them as the only pattern at the ankle.
- Yellow ground and beige thread are two warm tones, so a white pant cools the outfit and a cream one keeps it all warm.

Each piece is embroidered and finished by hand, so a measurement may vary by up to 1 inch. That variation is the signature of handwork, not a defect. The hip figure is taken across the 36 kali flare, laid flat and doubled, which is why it runs far wider than a straight kurta.
