Doodhiya White Mulmul Sleeveless Top
Bakhiya is the one stitch on this top, sewn in Lucknow on the side of the mulmul that lies against the wearer, so the motif sits in the cloth like a watermark in paper, by density and not colour. Shilpa hand embroidered a milk white ground in milk white thread at 70–75 GSM, nothing raised on the face. Doodhiya means milk white, its mulmul 100% cotton.

The stitches
- Bakhiya (shadow work)Herringbone worked on the reverse of sheer cloth, so the motif glows through as a soft shadow, the signature of true Chikankari.
How to wear it
- White thread in a white cloth leaves the top nothing to clash with, so a printed skirt or a checked trouser can be the loud half of the outfit.
- The shadow is made by light passing through the cloth, so the work shows most near a window and goes quiet under a jacket.
