White thread does two things against this pink: on the face it draws by contrast, and from the reverse it lightens the ground, bakhiya showing through 70–75 GSM mulmul as a paler pink. The maker hand embroidered five stitches in Lucknow, bakhiya, phanda, pechni, chana patti and keel kangan, over pintucks fanning from a round buttoned neck. Kamal is the lotus, cut in kali panels that flare to the calf.

The stitches
- Bakhiya (shadow work)Herringbone worked on the reverse of sheer cloth, so the motif glows through as a soft shadow, the signature of true Chikankari.
- Phanda (knot)Tight millet-seed knots placed one by one to build jasmine buds and flower centres.
- Pechni (twisted wrap)Tepchi wrapped over with thread into a raised, spiralled cord.
- Chana Patti (gram leaf)Gram-leaf trios scattered along creepers, small leaves in threes.
- Keel KanganKeel sets the pointed flower centre. Kangan rings it like a bangle around the motif.
How to wear it
- White is the only thread colour on the pink, so white pants below keep the outfit to two colours.
- The hem falls to the calf, so narrow pants or a churidar sit under it and nothing wider is needed.
- Mulmul at 70–75 GSM has no weight to hold the kali panels down, so they swing when you walk and take a moment to settle.

Each piece is embroidered and finished by hand, so a measurement may vary by up to 1 inch. That variation is the signature of handwork, not a defect. The hip figure is taken across the kali flare, laid flat and doubled, which is why it runs wider than a straight kurta.
