Khubani Peach Kota Saree
The Kota doria here runs 80–85 grams to the square metre, its checked grid a pattern before any thread. Khubani is the apricot, and white thread on a peach this light has nowhere to hide. Rubina Khatoon hand embroidered 5.5 metres of 100% cotton in Lucknow, her clean tepchi laying the outline, keel kangan pointing and ringing each flower centre, crochet edging along the border, and no blouse piece.

The stitches
- Keel KanganKeel sets the pointed flower centre. Kangan rings it like a bangle around the motif.
- Tepchi (running)The swift running stitch laid along the printed motif, the ground on which every other stitch is built.
How to wear it
- No blouse piece ships with this saree, so have one cut before the first wearing. White or ivory keeps it quiet, a deep rust warms the peach.
- Gold sits closer to this peach than silver does, so keep the jewellery small and let the white thread stay the brightest thing on the drape.
- Kota doria pleats sharp and weighs almost nothing, so the same saree carries a festive morning and the working afternoon that follows it.
